Are church Capital Campaign's based on biblical practices? The answer to this question is a resounding yes.
There are two inspiring accounts of Capital Campaign offerings given by God's people to build extraordinary places of worship - a grand Tabernacle and a great Temple. Both offerings were taken by visionary leaders of God's people - one by Moses, the other by King David.
Both Capital Campaign offerings required the extraordinary involvement of God's people giving of their time, their talent and their treasure. And they did so with unbridled energy.
The offerings were given by people in totally different circumstances, hundreds of years apart: but the similarities are striking, especially in the response to the Glod given challenge.
In the first Capital Campaign, the nation of Israel was giving to build the Tabernacle. No project like this had ever been undertaken in the annals of human history, and they had secured the greatest architect in the Universe, God Himself. Everything about the Tabernacle was special, it wasn't a quick trip down to the local Home Depot to obtain a few pine boards. This was a Tabernacle that was being built and furnished with exotic woods, spectacular fabrics, elaborate symbolic furnishings. Building the Tabernacle demanded the most out of everyone, but the people rose to the occasion: Then Moses summoned every skilled person to whom the Lord had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work. They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. (Missing the unquote and the biblical reference here. I would also break into two paragraphs if appropriate for ease of reading.)
In the midst of this project there was a crisis, but it wasn't the crisis that you would imagine! The people were bringing more money than needed. There was so many more offerings than needed, that Moses sent out a order that no man or woman was to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing more.
