Contiuation of Putting The Spiritual in Fundraising article:
From a financial standpoint, a church will generally see giving range from 1-4 times their annual budget above and beyond that budget during a 3-year campaign. There are several factors that determine this; including the reason for the campaign, whether it is for new construction or simply for debt retirement.
On the spiritual side, a campaign is one of very few avenues which a church can use to plug a new convert into the church's infrastructure from day one. As you know, retention is a major issue within our churches, and getting someone rooted into the church body is extremely important for long-term growth and health of the church. A campaign can accomplish this, as it allows for immediate buy-in to the church's vision and agenda, as one can begin giving at the outset of their attendance.
When conducted correctly, a campaign will also instill an extra amount of prayer, as each church member is asked to pray and let God speak to him/her concerning the giving that they are going to be doing over the course of the campaign. It provides for unity in the home and in the church, as all gather in unity to know the will of God for their time, talent and treasure, as a campaign encompasses all of these.
